Colonial Hotel

Constructed in 1893, with a substantial addition in 1908, the Colonial Hotel operated for decades as a prominent hotel on the square in downtown York, Pennsylvania. After being sold at a sheriff’s sale in 1974, the building underwent significant alteration during an urban renewal project in the 1980s, when its historic interior was removed and converted into residential condominiums and office space. Today, the Colonial Hotel is once again being rehabilitated. Zeller Preservation prepared the Part 1 and Part 2 applications for the Federal Historic Tax Credit program, documenting the building’s historic significance, assessing existing conditions, and developing a rehabilitation plan that aligned the project’s goals with preservation standards.
